Violet Ho is a University Distinguished Educator, University Distinguished Scholar, and the E. Claiborne Robins Distinguished Professor in Business at the Robins School of Business, University of Richmond. She was previously on the faculty of Nanyang Business School at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and earned her Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from the Tepper School of Business (then Graduate School of Industrial Administration) at Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to joining academe, she worked as a staff accountant at Arthur Andersen.
Violet’s research examines employee work passion as well as various forms of employee deal-making, including idiosyncratic deals and psychological contracts. She has published in journals such as the Academy of Management Review, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Organization Science, and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes. She is currently serving as Associate Editor at the Journal of Organizational Behavior and is also on the editorial boards of several other management journals.
Her scholarly works has received numerous awards, including Best Paper awards from the Robins School of Business (2016 and 2018), the Outstanding Researcher Award at the Robins School of Business (2014), the Most Publishable Paper Award from the International Leadership Association’s Leadership Scholarship Member Interest Group (2014), the Researcher of the Division award from the Division of Strategy, Management, and Organization at Nanyang Business School (2005 and 2006), the Best Paper Based on a Dissertation from the Organizational Behavior Division of the Academy of Management (2003), and Finalist for the Academy of Management’s Newman Best Dissertation award (2003).
Her teaching caters to audiences at the undergraduate, MBA, and Executive Education levels, and some of her classes include Cross-Cultural Management, Decision-Making in Teams, Negotiations, Organizational Behavior, and Research Methods.
