Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF)

The Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF) provides valuable, real-time experiential learning in securities analysis and portfolio management. Managers gain real-world experience in topics and theories that are discussed in the classroom. SMIF is the capstone to investment studies in a sequence of courses developed by the finance department.

Richter

Eloise Richter, General Manager
Eloise is from Wayne, Pa., and is pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. This past summer, Eloise worked at NewSpring Capital in Philadelphia as a Private Equity Summer Analyst on the Mezzanine and Holdings strategies. Previously, she interned at Falcon Capital Partners, a boutique investment banking firm focused on the technology and healthcare industries. After graduation, she will be returning to NewSpring Capital as an Analyst on the Franchise strategy. Outside of SMIF, Eloise is a Financial Data Assistant in the Lessing Trading Floor and is involved in her sorority's philanthropy. 

Pisani

Matthew Pisani, Head of Growth Fund
Matt is from Larchmont, N.Y., and is pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance, along with minors in History and Russian Studies. Matt has interned at Arrowhead Investment Management, working with mezzanine capital investments. After Graduation, Matt will be commissioned into the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant. Outside of SMIF, Matt is in Army ROTC, is co-president of the Finance Society, president of the Lifting Club, and partner of Gateway Capital Management.

Von Stade

Charlie Von Stade, Head of Value Fund
Charlie is from Darien, Conn., and is pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a dual concentration in Finance and Accounting. This past summer, Charlie attended Harris Williams’ 2024 Bootcamp Summer Analyst Program prior to working for Piper Sandler in their Services and Industrials Group. He has prior experience in sell-side investment banking and corporate development. After graduation, Charlie will join Harris Williams in their 2025 full-time analyst class. Outside of SMIF, Charlie enjoys playing golf with his family and friends, fly fishing, and biking. 

Walker

Sam Walker, Vice President of Recruitment, Growth Fund
Sam is from Salem, VA, and is pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and a minor in Mathematics. This past summer, Sam worked at Alpine Investors as a Private Equity Summer Analyst. Previously, he interned at CFO Network, a financial consulting firm. After graduation, he will be returning to Alpine Investors full-time. Outside of SMIF, Sam is a part of the Outdoor Adventure Recreation team and the Vice President of the Men's Club Soccer team. 

Proscia

Pete Proscia, ESG Manager, Growth Fund
Pete is from Chatham, N.J., and is pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a dual concentration in Finance and Entrepreneurship, along with a minor in Italian Studies. This past summer, Pete worked at Morgan Stanley in New York as a Fixed Income Sales and Trading Summer Analyst. Previously, he interned at Elliott Management, a hedge fund that is prominent in activist investing. After graduation, Pete will return full-time to Morgan Stanley on the Leveraged Finance Credit desk. Outside of SMIF, Pete is a member of the Spider Real Estate Group and enjoys hanging out at the James River with friends.

Burke

Blainey Burke, ESG Manager, Value Fund
Blainey is from New Canaan, Conn., and is pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a dual concentration in Economics and Finance and a minor in Health Studies. This past summer, Blainey worked as a Summer Analyst at Brown Advisory, a private, independent investment management and strategic advisory firm. Through participating in their entrepreneurial and self-directed project-based program, she gained exposure to all sides of their investment business including private client portfolio management, asset allocation and manager due diligence, equity and fixed income research, private equity and real estate, institutional sales, and sustainable investing. Previously, she worked as a Financial Analyst Intern for GreenPortfolio, a climate fintech platform. Outside of SMIF, Blainey is involved in various extracurriculars including the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority.

Adhikari

Samyog Adhikari, Value Fund
Samyog is an international student from Nepal, pursuing a major in Business Economics with a concentration in Finance. Last summer, he worked as an Investment Banking Summer Analyst at RBC Capital Markets in New York City, where he was part of the Consumer and Retail Coverage team. Following graduation, Samyog will be returning to RBC Capital Markets to continue his career in investment banking. Previously, he interned at WestEnd Advisors, a boutique investment management firm in Charlotte, N.C. Outside of his professional pursuits, Samyog is Founder of Project Sikchhyalaya, an NGO dedicated to promoting educational development in rural Nepal.

Amandykuly Mustafa Amandykuly, Growth Fund
Mustafa is an international student from Almaty, Kazakhstan. He is a Global Scholar, pursuing a major in Economics with a concentration in Finance. This past summer, Mustafa worked at Waterfall Asset Management on their HY Corporate Credit and CRE Credit desks in New York City. Previously, he worked as a Summer Investment Analyst at MOST Ventures, an early-stage VC fund in Central Eurasia. After graduation, Mustafa will return to Waterfall Asset Management as an Analyst on the CRE Credit team. Outside of SMIF, Mustafa is a Resident Assistant and is involved in the student-managed ETF portfolio, as well as the Lakeside Consulting Group.
Francolini

Ben Francolini, Value Fund
Ben is from Grafton, Mass., pursuing a major in Business Administration with a dual concentration in Finance and Economics, along with a minor in Math. The last two summers he worked at John Hancock in Boston in their Global Wealth and Asset Management Division. In SMIF, Ben is covering healthcare and utilities for the value fund. Outside of SMIF, he has held positions in his business and social fraternities.

Ferguson

Cameron Ferguson, Value Fund
Cameron is from Danville, Calif., pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a dual concentration in Finance and Business Analytics. This past summer, Cameron interned at AlphaSights in New York City, engaging with venture capital clients. He previously interned at Automation Anywhere, a robotic process automation software based out of San Jose, California. Outside of SMIF, Cameron is actively involved in club sports and intramurals.

Gail

Ethan Gail, Growth Fund
Ethan is from Seattle, Wash., and is pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. Last summer, he worked as an Investment Banking Summer Analyst at Navagant, where he worked on several M&A processes and developed key deliverables for clients. Previously, he interned at Coldstream Wealth Management, focusing on real estate investment strategies, asset allocation, and risk assessment. Ethan also gained valuable insights as a Summer Analyst at Archon Capital Management, where he contributed to research and valuation for a fundamental long-short equity hedge fund. Outside of SMIF, Ethan serves as the Captain and President of the Richmond Club Ice Hockey team.

Galbraith

Will Galbraith, Growth Fund
Will is from Morristown, N.J., and is pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. In past summers, Will has worked at Riker Danzig LLP as an Accounting Intern, as well as at Private Advisor Group as a Wealth Management Intern. Outside of SMIF Will is the president of his fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon, and a member of the Club Soccer team. 

Giarraputo

Jake Giarraputo, Value Fund
Jake is from Long Island, N.Y., and is pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a dual concentration in Finance and Accounting, along with a minor in History. This past summer, Jake worked as an Asset Management Intern at Neuberger Berman in the Growth Strategies Group. Outside of SMIF, Jake is president of Club Baseball and is involved in Club Golf.

Glowacky

Will Glowacky, Value Fund
Will is from Wellesley, Mass., and is pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance, along with a minor in Italian Studies. Last summer, Will worked as a Credit Analyst Intern at Abrdn Investments and covered high-yield debt within the tech and telecom sectors.

Ierna

Anthony Ierna, Value Fund
Anthony is originally from Avon, Conn., and is pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a dual concentration in Finance and Accounting. This past summer, Anthony worked as a Corporate Finance Intern at Steel Partners Holdings L.P., conducting performance analysis for the CFOs of the 13 operating companies in the Steel Partners family. Previously, Anthony was a Summer Analyst at Macrospect, a boutique consulting firm based out of Irving, Texas. Outside of SMIF, Anthony is a member of the Club Golf team and First Generation Investors.

Minns

Ashley Minns, Growth Fund
Ashley is from Long Island, N.Y., and is pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a dual concentration in Finance and Economics, along with a minor in Data Science and Statistics. This past summer, Ashley worked at Conscious Endeavors in New York City as a Research Analyst focused on investable opportunities within blockchain technology. In August, Ashley joined GoalVest Advisory as Remote Intern on their Venture Growth Fund Team. Outside of SMIF, Ashley is a student-athlete on the University's Track & Field and Cross Country teams.

Rand

Lucy Rand, Growth Fund
Lucy is from Manhattan, N.Y., and is pursuing a major in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. This past summer, Lucy worked at JP Morgan, as a Payments Summer Analyst on the Fintech, Cryptocurrency, and Payment Processors team. JPMorgan Payments is a division of JPMorgan that provides integrated payment, treasury, and merchant services to businesses, financial institutions, and governments, with a strong focus on fintech innovation and digital payment technologies. Outside of SMIF, Lucy serves as the Treasurer for Delta Sigma Pi, the business fraternity, and is an active member of both the Club Squash and Tennis teams.

Rosenbaum

Leo Rosenbaum, Value Fund
Leo is from Richmond, Va., and is pursuing a degree in Economics with a concentration in Finance. This past summer, Leo interned at Berkeley Research Group in Washington, D.C., as a Summer Associate focused on energy markets. Previously, he worked as a Finance Intern for Dominion Energy. Outside of SMIF, Leo is involved in the Student Managed ETF fund, the CFA Research Challenge, and is a tutor for Economics in the Academic Skills Center.

Sophie Salmini, Growth Fund
Sophie is from New Canaan, Conn., and is pursuing a major in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. This past summer, Sophie worked as a Wealth Management Intern at Pell Wealth Partners in Rye Brook, Conn. Outside of SMIF, she is the Co-President of Women in Economics and involved in her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta's philanthropy. 

Zeppieri

Matteo Zeppieri, Value Fund
Matteo is from Long Island, N.Y., and is pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. This past summer, Matteo worked in New York as an Investment Banking Summer Analyst for the Debt Capital Markets group at Scotiabank. Previously, he was a Private Credit Summer Analyst on the Diversified Direct Lending team at Blue Owl Capital. Outside of SMIF, Matteo is Co-Head of Spider Private Markets and studied abroad during the fall of his junior year at Charles University in Prague. After Graduation, Matteo will be returning to Scotia full-time in New York.
