Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF)

The Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF) provides valuable, real-time experiential learning in securities analysis and portfolio management. Managers gain real-world experience in topics and theories that are discussed in the classroom. SMIF is the capstone to investment studies in a sequence of courses developed by the finance department.

Eaton

Carter Eaton, General Manager
Carter is a Presidential Scholar pursuing a major in business administration with a concentration in finance and a minor in math. He is originally from Dover, Mass. Last summer, Carter worked at Morgan Stanley’s Global Headquarters as a Fixed Income Sales and Trading Summer Analyst. Previously, he interned at Edgewood Management and focused on equity research. After graduation, Carter will be returning to Morgan Stanley as an analyst on the Interest Rates Sales Team. Outside of SMIF, Carter is the co-president of the Finance Society.

Lynch Will Lynch, Head of Growth Fund
Will is pursuing a degree in business administration with a concentration in finance and a minor in Italian studies. He is originally from Lenox, Mass. This past summer, Will worked at William Blair as an investment banking summer analyst in their technology coverage group. Previously, he interned at Merida Capital Holdings, a private equity firm focused exclusively on companies in the cannabis industry. After graduation, he will be returning to William Blair full-time. Outside of SMIF, Will is a teaching assistant for the Italian Department and is a member of the club lacrosse team.

Natalie Null, Head of Value Fund
Natalie is from Wynnewood, Pa., and is pursuing a degree in business administration with concentrations in finance and accounting and a minor in English. This past summer, Natalie worked at Vanguard in Malvern, Pa., as a finance intern supporting their wealth management team. During the summer after her sophomore year, she worked as a finance intern for Nouryon, a specialty chemicals company, where she was able to work under the CFO. Outside of SMIF, Natalie is involved in her sorority Kappa Alpha Theta's philanthropy.
Rychener Landon Rychener, Vice President of Recruitment, Growth Fund
Landon is from Lancaster, Pa., and is pursuing a major in business administration with a concentration in finance. This past summer Landon worked at Matrix Capital Markets Group as an investment banking summer analyst within their Consumer and Industrial Products Group. Prior to Matrix he worked as a real estate intern at High Real Estate Group. Outside of SMIF, Landon is the VP of his fraternity, a member of Spider Diligence, and enjoys mountain biking and playing tennis and golf.
Bao Gina Bao, ESG Manager, Value Fund
Gina is an international student from China pursuing a major in economics with a concentration in finance. This past summer, Gina interned at a fund management company in Shanghai with the investment support and innovation team. Previously, she worked as an equity research summer analyst at a securities firm. Outside of SMIF, Gina is a member of the UR ETF Fund and a tutor for Finance and Economics in the Academic Skills Center.
Blevins

Brian Blevins, ESG Manager, Growth Fund
Brian is from Hillsboro, Va., pursuing a degree in business administration with a concentration in finance and a minor in geography. This past summer, Brian interned at Dominion Energy as a CFO rotation intern in the Investor Relations and Financial Planning & Analysis teams. Between freshman and junior year Brian interned at CACI International as a market research intern and a cost volume business development intern. Outside of SMIF, Brian is involved in research with the Department of Geography, Environment, & Sustainability and he is a member of AKPSI Business Fraternity.

Gillespie Lauren Gillespie, Value Fund
Lauren is from Monroe, Conn., and is pursuing a degree in business administration with concentrations in economics and finance. This past summer, Lauren interned at Barnum Financial Group in the operations department. Outside of SMIF, she is one of the vice presidents of her sorority, Delta Delta Delta, plays on the women’s club volleyball team, and is also a member of The Sirens acapella group.
Glickman Jake Glickman, Growth Fund
Jake is pursuing a major in business administration with concentrations in finance and business analytics. He is from Westport, Conn. This past summer, Jake interned with Macquarie Group in New York City as a commodities and global markets summer analyst within the Credit Markets Division. Outside of SMIF, he is involved in various extracurricular activities around campus, including the club ice hockey team and his fraternity, where he serves as a philanthropy chair. 
Ke Xipeng Ke, Value Fund
Xipeng is an international student from China pursuing a degree in business administration with concentrations in marketing and finance. Last summer, she held a marketing internship in China. She assisted in the development and execution of multi-channel marketing plans and collaborated with the regional marketing team to develop analytics reports. Outside of SMIF, Xipeng is a piano performer in a chamber ensemble, a student manager at Parsons Music Library, and an active member of the Block Crew dance team and the badminton club. 
Lang Brady Lang, Value Fund
Brady is from Midlothian, Va., and is pursuing a degree in business administration with concentrations in finance and accounting and a minor in history. This past summer, he interned in KPMG's advisory practice in Richmond and was engaged with the internal audits of healthcare sector firms. On campus, Brady is active in his Christian organization and was formerly the VP of finance for student government. After graduation, Brady will return to KPMG and work towards earning his CPA. 
Notaro Luke Notaro, Value Fund
Luke is from Ridgewood, N.J., pursuing a major in business administration with concentrations in finance and marketing. This past summer, Luke worked at Hennion & Walsh, a tax-free bond specialist with a comprehensive wealth management division in Parsippany, N.J., as a summer sales intern. Previously in the spring of 2023, he worked in the finance department at Winged Keel Group, an insurance brokerage firm specializing in private placement life insurance. Outside of SMIF, Luke is a Campus Ambassador as well as a member of both Camp Kessem and the club baseball team.
Skelly Ethan Skelly, Value Fund
Ethan is originally from Needham, Mass., and is pursuing a major in business administration with a concentration in finance and a minor in Spanish. This past summer Ethan Worked at SMBC as an investment banking summer analyst in debt capital markets. In addition to his internship, Ethan is involved with the Spider Real Estate Group and First Generation Investors. After graduating he plans to return to SMBC full-time in NYC.

Benson

Charlie Benson, Growth Fund
Charlie is from Darien, Conn., and is pursuing a degree in business administration with a concentration in finance and a minor in Latin and Iberian studies. This past summer, Charlie worked in New York City as an investment banking summer analyst at Truist Securities in the industrials and services coverage group. Following graduation, he will be returning to Truist Securities as a full-time investment banking analyst. Outside of SMIF, Charlie is the vice president of the Spider Real Estate Group and plays on the club lacrosse team.

Hillier

Ryan Hillier, Growth Fund
Ryan is from Long Valley, N.J., pursuing a degree in business administration with concentrations in finance and entrepreneurship. This past summer, Ryan worked in New York City as a summer analyst at Evercore on their Equity Capital Markets team, focused on traditional and clean energy deals. Previously, he worked as a summer analyst at Dominion Energy, focusing on mergers and acquisitions and investor relations. Outside of SMIF, Ryan is president of Gateway Capital Management and Finance Society, plays club golf, and studied abroad at the Prague School of Economics.

Krogh

Luke Krogh, Growth Fund
Luke is pursuing a degree in business administration with a concentration in finance and a minor in history. Luke is from Atlanta, Ga. This past summer, Luke interned at Mesirow at their headquarters in Chicago as an investment banking summer analyst. His other past intern experience has been in private wealth management, institutional asset management, and private equity. Outside of SMIF, Luke is an orientation advisor, peer academic advisor, part of the student managed ETF portfolio, and is involved in history club. 

Park

Brian Park, Growth Fund
Brian is pursuing a major in economics with a concentration in finance. He is from Northern Virginia. This past summer, Brian worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond as an assistant examiner intern, where he learned about how the Federal Reserve system monitors the condition of banks and other financial institutions. Outside of SMIF, Brian is a Bonner Scholar where he participates in sustained community engagement in Richmond. As a Bonner, he works at Richmond's Office of Sustainability to track RVAGreen2050 indicators.

Serrao

Annie Serrao, Growth Fund
Annie is pursuing a major in business administration with a concentration in finance. She is from Andover, Mass. This past summer, Annie worked at Amulet Capital Partners in Greenwich, Conn., as a summer analyst. Amulet Capital Partners is a middle-market private equity firm focused exclusively on healthcare. Outside of SMIF Annie enjoys various extracurriculars including Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
