The Lessing Trading Floor

The finance department maintains the Lessing Trading Floor located in Robins School of Business Queally Hall Room 100. The trading floor houses our financial data resources and is staffed with Financial Data Assistants.

Financial Data Resources

The Lessing Trading Floor has the following data and software resources available: 12 Bloomberg Professional Subscriptions, Datastream, Wharton WRDS, Center for Research in Security Prices (CRSP), COMPUSTAT, Execucomp, Value Line Investment Survey, Factiva, Lexis-Nexis, and Palisade Decision Tools including @RISK.

Bloomberg is available on computers #1-11, 14>

Palisade Decision Tools including @RISK is available on computers #2, 4-9, 12, 14

Datastream is available on computers #1, 3, 10, 11,13

Financial Data Assistants

Students with knowledge of Bloomberg and basic database skills work in the Lessing Trading Floor. These financial data assistants provide guidance on obtaining Bloomberg Market Concepts – Bloomberg Certificate and assist students working with all the financial data in the Lessing Trading Floor.

To be considered for the position of financial data assistant, students must have taken Finance 366 and earn the Bloomberg Certificate. The minimum time commitment to be a financial data assistant is four hours a week. This is a paid position.

Bloomberg Market Concepts – Bloomberg Certificate

The Lessing Trading Floor supports students who want to take the Bloomberg Market Concepts and earn a Bloomberg Certificate by providing 12 Bloomberg terminals in The Lessing Trading Floor, providing detailed instructions and live support from financial data assistants. Bloomberg Market Concepts is designed to equip financial professionals with comprehensive knowledge of the Bloomberg Professional service.

Bloomberg Market Concepts – Bloomberg Certification comprises watching four videos and quizzes over seven hours.

The Lessing Trading Floor hours are the same as the Robins School, no exceptions.

The Lessing Trading Floor will be staffed with financial data assistance during the below hours this semester:

  • Monday | 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., 3 - 6 p.m.
  • Tuesday | 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday | 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., 3 - 5 p.m. 
  • Thursday | 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., 2 - 6 p.m.
  • Friday | 12 - 2 p.m.
