Rich comes to the University of Richmond from the University of Arizona where he was most recently Assistant to the Dean and Lecturer in the Department of Management and Information Systems. He also taught courses in Innovation and Technology Strategy, Strategic Innovation (a capstone course for the Executive MBA Program), Technology Consulting, Business Foundations for Scientists, and The Language and Context of Business. In all, Rich has taught over 5,000 students ranging from undergraduate to executive MBA levels. As Assistant to the Dean, he helped formulate and implement strategies to help achieve the mission of the college while developing relationships with corporate leaders, donors and other constituencies.
Previously, Rich was Associate Director of the Full Time MBA Program at the University of Iowa, where he also served as Lecturer and Founding Director of the Business Solutions Center. The Business Solutions Center provides consulting projects for MBA students with regional and global business enterprises such as Best Buy, Transamerica, GE Healthcare and many others. In addition, Rich was the Founding Business Director of the MBA Strategic Innovation Career Academy.
Prior to his career in academia Rich worked at Accenture for 25 years, the last 13 of those spent as a Partner in the Firm. At Accenture he led major consulting engagements for multiple Fortune 500 Firms across a number of industries. During his career at Accenture, he managed a 500+ person information systems organization and developed functional expertise across all major financial functions, Human Resources, supply chain, commodity trading, risk management, business intelligence, modeling, and mathematical optimization.
Rich received a B.S. in Agricultural Economics and Business Management from the University of California, Davis, an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan and an M.S. in Business Analytics from the University of Utah. He also passed all parts of the Uniform CPA Exam.
