Alex Hamrick

Dr. Hamrick earned a Ph.D. in Management from Auburn University’s Harbert College of Business before joining the Robins School of Business faculty at the University of Richmond as an Assistant Professor of Management. His research is at the intersection of entrepreneurship and organizational behavior where he primarily studies the psychology of entrepreneurs. Topics of special interest include entrepreneurs’ leisure behavior, stress, recovery, well-being, psychological resources, and creativity, as well as employee entrepreneurial behavior and emotion and cognition. His work has been published in journals such as Journal of Business Venturing and Journal of Business Venturing Insights, among other outlets. He teaches courses in entrepreneurship and innovation. Before beginning his academic career, Dr. Hamrick most recently worked as a defense attorney for the University of South Carolina’s Juvenile Justice Clinic and as an operations manager for Amazon.
