Dr. Patricia Torres is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at University of Richmond. Dr. Patricia Torres has earned a Ph.D. at Florida International University in 2021. Prior to joining the academic world, Dr. Torres worked in the banking industry. This experience sparked an interest for financial decision-making research. Patricia’s dissertation focuses on understanding how the self-concept, more specifically self-motives, impact consumers’ financial decision-making.
Patricia’s work has been published in premier marketing journals such as Psychology and Marketing, Services Marketing Quarterly and Journal of Consumer Marketing. Additionally, her research has been featured in conferences such as Association for Consumer Behavior (ACR), Society for Consumer Psychology (SCP) American Marketing Association (AMA), and Academy of Marketing Science (AMS). Patricia has several projects under review in Journals such as Journal of Consumer Research (1st round of review) and Marketing Science (invited for 2nd round of review). Patricia’s scholarship has been recognized by several associations, granting her fellowship at the 2020 Sheth Doctoral Consortium, Beta Gamma Sigma academic honor society, and awards such as the Harold and Muriel Berkman Foundation Research Grant (2023) and Research Scholarship (2020), AMA 2019 Valuing Diversity Scholarship and the 2020 AMTP Best student paper award.
