John Hewa
President & CEO, Rappahannock Electric Cooperative
John Hewa is Rappahannock Electric Cooperative’s President and CEO. Hewa has more than 20 years of leadership experience in the electric utility industry and has served as the CEO of electric cooperatives in Texas and Florida and as NRECA’s vice president of Research, Engineering and Technical Services. At NRECA, Hewa and his teams worked to advance the adoption of beneficial smart grid technologies among the nation's electric cooperatives, focusing on reliable, resilient and clean distributed energy tech adoption. Hewa has served on a variety of industry-related boards including the U.S. Energy Storage Association, Smart Electric Power Alliance and currently as a director with Old Dominion Electric Cooperative, as well as the Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives. Hewa is a director on the board of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce and the Virginia Economic Development Partnership.
