Jeff McMahan teaches Business Law and Advanced Business Law at the Robins School of Business. He holds dual degrees in Accounting and Finance from Virginia Tech. Prior to attending law school, Jeff worked at Deloitte and Wachovia Securities (now Wells Fargo), gaining valuable experience in accounting, finance, and consulting.
Jeff earned his J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law, graduating first in his class. He then served as a law clerk to Judge C. Arlen Beam on the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Following his clerkship, he joined McGuireWoods LLP, where he practiced in the Complex Commercial Litigation group, focusing on appellate matters and high-stakes, “bet-the-company” litigation.
Today, Jeff is the founder of Midtown GC, a boutique law firm where he focuses on corporate law, with a particular emphasis on mergers and acquisitions. His clients primarily include private equity funds and their portfolio companies.
Jeff’s publications include, “Guarding the Guardians: Judges’ Rights and Virginia’s Judicial Inquiry and Review Commission”, University of Richmond Law Review (Vol. 43, Issue 1).
Jeff has been a member of the University of Richmond faculty since 2021.
