Brian Johnson

President & CEO, The Fresh Market

Brian Johnson is president and chief executive officer of The Fresh Market, a fresh food retailer recognized for high-quality food, convenient meal solutions, and exceptional hospitality.

Since becoming CEO in 2025, Johnson has accelerated the company’s growth, innovation, and differentiated guest experience. He joined The Fresh Market in 2020 as Chief Operating Officer, leading expansion into new East Coast and Midwest markets while strengthening store operations.

Johnson brings more than 30 years of retail leadership experience. Before joining The Fresh Market, he spent nearly three decades with Brookshire Grocery Company, ultimately leading operations across 107 stores in Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas.

Johnson holds a bachelor’s degree in management from Baylor University and an MBA from The University of Texas at Tyler. He also completed the Wharton General Management Program.

He is passionate about building high-performing teams, creating memorable guest experiences, and making The Fresh Market the destination for making everyday eating extraordinary.

Johnson and his wife, Deborah, live in Greensboro, N.C. Their sons, Blake and Bryce, are physicians in Texas.
