Yumin Hong is an applied microeconomist who received a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin. Her research lies at the intersection of environmental and health economics, with a particular focus on how climate change affects health and human well-being. Her recent work examines the effects of extreme heat on mental health, infant health, and environmental policy. She uses administrative data and causal inference methods to evaluate public policies and better understand the mechanisms through which environmental conditions affect human well-being. She joined the University of Richmond in 2026.
