Sustainability at Robins

The Robins School is committed to positively impacting society, which involves preparing our students to address society’s most pressing sustainability challenges. Business is a powerful societal force, so our students must understand how to use it to create a genuinely prosperous future for more people and the other species that share the planet with us. This benefits our students in the near term and long term. Sustainability has become a critical factor in business decision-making, so our emphasis on sustainability is good career preparation for our students.

Sustainability Curriculum

We are increasingly integrating aspects of sustainability into our courses. We also offer the following courses that focus specifically on environmental or social sustainability or the economic development of underdeveloped regions.

We encourage Robins School students who are interested in a formal sustainability program in addition to their business major to consider one of the sustainability-related majors or minors available at the University of Richmond. The programs differ in terms of their emphasis, and a few can be partially fulfilled with some of the courses listed above.

Co-Curricular Opportunities

We are continually planning sustainability events for the Robins School. These include film screenings, seminars, invited speakers, and more. A recurring event is the Sustainable Solutions Challenge that offers a cash prize to the winning team.

Upcoming Sustainability Events:

Sustainability Documentary & Pizza Night | October 18 at 6 p.m., RSB 224

Registration Information

Grab your friends and join us for a sustainability documentary and pizza night that's not only fun but also good for the planet! We will be showing 2040, a documentary by filmmaker Damon Gameau who travels the world to learn about new approaches and solutions to climate change. Along the way, he meets with academics, entrepreneurs, and ecological experts to understand current ecological problems and best practice climate mitigation solutions.

After the showing, there will be a panel and audience discussion. We would love to hear your thoughts, get inspired, and maybe even find new ways of working together. Whether you're a sustainability pro or just curious, there's something for everyone.

So, mark your calendar, bring your appetite for some Zorch pizza, and let's have a great time together!
