  • How do I apply?

Robins School majors (accounting, business administration, and economics‐business) apply for study abroad using the online application found on the International Education office (IE) website.

  • Where can I obtain the Robins School list of international partner universities?

The list of approved Robins School international partner schools can be found on the international business website. Hard copies are located in the Center for International Business Programs suite, Q291.

  • How can I learn more about the study abroad application process?

All students who have declared or intend to declare a major in accounting, business administration, or economics-business are required to attend a study abroad information session for Robins School majors and the information sessions conducted by International Education (IE). Dates, times, and locations for study abroad information sessions for fall study abroad are posted on the international business programs web page, in Spiderbytes, and on TV monitors across campus. For spring study abroad, contact Fae Bell, director of business study abroad programs, at fbell@richmond.edu to schedule an information session.

  • Are there any restrictions for applying to study abroad partner schools?

Yes, for most Robins School partner universities a minimum GPA of 3.0 is required. Your GPA for business courses you’ve completed will also be considered when making acceptance decisions.

Students applying to schools in Spain must have completed LAIS 221 Intensive Intermediate Spanish or be currently enrolled in LAIS 221 at the time of application in order to be eligible for semester or year study in Spain.

Heritage speakers and students who have met the COM2 language requirement in Spanish through the IB, AP, or Spanish placement exam are eligible to participate.

These restrictions do not apply to LALIS majors and minors.

  • Who should I contact if I have questions?

Fae Bell, fbell@richmond.edu, director of business study abroad programs, is the primary advisor for study abroad for business students.

  • When are applications due?

The deadline for fall and full-year programs is typically late January or the first week in February. The deadline for spring applications is mid- to late September. Refer to the IE website for exact dates.

  • How long does it take to find out if I have been accepted and how will I be notified?

Typically decisions are made three weeks after the application deadline; however, fall semester decisions for business students can take longer due to the size of applicant pools for fall study abroad. The host school will send out a formal letter of acceptance once the Robins School has approved your application. IE sends out acceptance packages with instructions and information.

  • What if I want to study abroad during the summer semester?

Summer study abroad programs require registration on this page.

A list of programs can be found on the International Education Office website under summer programs. Students wishing to take business or economics classes abroad during the summer should complete a Study Abroad Course Approval form for the Robins School and bring it to the Center for International Business Programs in the Robins School, Q291, for approval or you may email the completed form to fbell@richmond.edu
